Wajik can always be found during holidays such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. This light snack is also served during ceremonies such as circumcisions, weddings and others.
Ingredients:
- white rice
- brown sugar
- sugar
- coconut milk from 1 coconut
- lime leaves
- pandan leaves
- salt
How to Make:
- Soak white rice in water.
- Steam rice in hot boiler until it becomes sticky.
- After the water is boiling, add the sticky rice.
- Stir the mixture until the water is all absorbed by the sticky rice. Then, remove the mixture.
- Boil coconut milk, brown sugar, granulated sugar, orange leaves, pandan leaves until the mixture coagulates.
- Put steamed sticky rice.
- Cook until coconut milk is absorbed by sticky rice and the sticky rice is slightly dry.
- Pour glutinous rice flour into a baking sheet, leveled while pressed.
- After it is cool, cut the sticky rice into a diamond shape.
