Nowadays, rapid development of technology and the changing geographical situations of Jakarta have made it more difficult to play Betawi folk games. For instance, the increasing usage of open spaces for infrastructure or housing development projects have caused playing areas to dwindle. These spaces were also those that previously grew plants used to make tools for traditional games. Technological development also contributed to the disappearance of folk games, as more and more kids nowadays prefer to play digital games. Efforts to preserve and revive these folk games are currently taking place.
