Nasi Uduk

Nasi Uduk is a dish that can be easily found in many places in Jakarta. Variants of Nasi Uduk are very diverse with side dishes, such as fried chicken, empal, tempe, and semur jengkol, semur tahu and semur kentang. Usually Nasi Uduk is served with peanut sauce. In the Betawi community, Nasi Uduk is often served as a menu for breakfast, in addition to a complementary menu for simple festivals and other celebrations.

Ingredients:

  • rice
  • coconut milk
  • ginger
  • galangal
  • bay leaf
  • pandan leaves
  • red onion
  • nutmeg
  • cutchery
  • salt

How to make:

  • Wash rice, soak it in water and drain after 30 minutes.
  • Steam rice for 30 minutes.
  • Crush nutmeg and cutchery. Put them into coconut milk with ginger, galangal, bay leaves and pandan leaves.
  • Boil the mixture. Add salt.
  • Cook rice and coconut milk 30 minutes.
